Students can lose focus for a variety of reasons which are not always intentional. Building rapport with students to understand and address the underlying cause of the distraction is essential to provide them with the support they need to maintain engagement with set tasks. This session will outline strategies to set clear expectations and creating positive and productive relationships. This will include responding to the student, identifying potential underlying factors and how students may react to different adults they work with.
