PD Webinar - Courageous conversations when things are not going well

ES staff in schools can be on the frontline of difficult conversations with students, staff, parents and the community. Building your communication skills to respond effectively in these situations is valuable professional development for ES staff. The session will cover effective listening and focus on four types of listening and their impact on the other person -  judgemental listening, autobiographical listening, solution listening and inquisitive listening. The session will also cover what to do and how your union can support you if a conversation ‘goes off the rails’ and you feel threatened, or conversely have said something that may have caused harm.
