Education Support Staff may be called on to demonstrate the ability to manage student behaviour in small groups when working away from the main classroom environment or in specialist settings e.g. libraries or excursions. This session is designed to provide some basic techniques for ES staff, including setting reasonable rules and expectations, responding to students with an assertive and reasonable voice and when to escalate an issue to a colleague with a different level of authority.
