Progress is made on a deal in Victorian Catholic education

The IEU is pleased to announce that following long and complex negotiations with Victorian Catholic education employer representatives, significant progress has been made towards an in-principle deal for a new Agreement.

There is still a lot of work to be done, and we are not yet in a position to provide full details of the possible deal – but we can say negotiations around the key issues have advanced and we are hopeful a proposed Agreement can be put to members during Term 1, 2023. Ultimately it will be up to IEU members working in Victorian Catholic schools to consider any proposed Agreement.

Our negotiators couldn’t have achieved the things they have without the tremendous support of the IEU membership. We say thanks to every member and IEU Rep who took part in every action we’ve taken to get a deal done. Your solidarity has led to real, lasting wins in our sector. It’s time now to press pause on the “No More Freebies campaign”.

This has been a very challenging year for many, but we can now end it with genuine hope that a new Agreement containing significant improvements to workloads, working conditions and entitlements in our schools is not too far off.

The union office will be in touch with members again in the new school year to provide more detail as we finalise the proposed Agreement. Special briefings for Reps will also be organised.

Until then, the IEU wishes its members all the best for the holiday break. We hope you find plenty of peaceful moments to connect with friends and family.

Actions all over the state, like this one at Galen College, propelled progress on a deal.
