Public narrative is a leadership practice using personal values to galvanise others into action through storytelling. Combing stories of self, us and now, this training will enable Reps to use narrative in their work as union leaders within their sub-branches to mobilise others to act effectively on behalf of shared values.
Public narrative engages people in interpreting why they should change the world – their motivation – and how they can act to change it – their strategy. It is the art of translating values into action through stories. This training will give Reps an opportunity to develop their own narratives as well as an opportunity to practice listening to and coaching others in sharing their stories.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
Reps from Catholic schools are entitled to a day of paid union training leave each year, and Reps from independent schools should speak to their Organiser about the IEU covering replacement costs.
Participation in this day is fundamental to your role as a sub-branch rep, and attendance is strongly encouraged.
